Birmingham’s Cala Coffee: More Than Just a Cup of Coffee
Founded by Josh and Mel Cosio in 2021, Cala Coffee was born out of a passion for great coffee and community. The name “Cala” reflects their journey from California to Alabama, where they now roast their own beans and serve up carefully crafted coffee. With a mission to help others “Create Good Days,” Cala Coffee has grown from a micro-roaster and mobile coffee cart to opening two brick-and-mortar shops in Birmingham: one in Cahaba Heights and the other in Downtown Birmingham.

Quality and Community at the Core
Cala Coffee’s commitment to quality is evident in every cup. They began by perfecting their roasting process, ensuring that each blend offers a rich and flavorful experience. The mobile coffee cart, which started their journey, became a beloved fixture at local events and farmers’ markets, helping them build a loyal following. Now, with their two coffee shops, Cala Coffee continues to provide a welcoming space where locals can enjoy not only great coffee but also delicious breakfast tacos, pastries, and a variety of teas, including a highly popular local chai tea and matcha.
A Space for Everyone
What truly sets Cala Coffee apart is their dedication to creating a positive, community-focused environment. Their shops are not just places to grab a drink—they’re hubs for connection, where friendly staff make customers feel at home and local events find a space to thrive. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick coffee or looking to host an event, Cala Coffee’s doors are always open, inviting you to be a part of their mission to Create Good Days.
