What Is Equip and the Thrive Program?
Equip is a faith-driven nonprofit rooted right here in Birmingham. Its mission: to enrich the lives of adults with disabilities through programs that nurture independence, learning, creativity, and spiritual growth.
At the heart of this mission is Thrive, a community-centered day program for adults living with disabilities. Thrive provides educational and recreational opportunities that build job readiness, social skills, and independent living. Through art classes, community engagement, and values-based learning, Thrive equips individuals with the tools they need to live fuller, more independent lives.
Equip partners with schools across Jefferson, Shelby, and now Blount County, helping students with disabilities prepare for the transition to adulthood. By connecting classroom learning with real-world experiences, Equip ensures these young people are supported well beyond graduation.
